The other night I was lying in bed and couldn’t sleep, so I started investigating the cracks within the ceiling, while not feeling so good. I didn’t have to look too deep to understand why.

There was no existential crisis. I wasn’t pondering the meaning of life. It hit me how sedentary I had been lately – I hadn’t exercised at all. In my defense, I live in the upper Midwest, and there were a few inches of snow on the ground. So, over the last few days, instead of walking in the (very) fresh air for some exercise, I’ve taken the car to Starbucks. And I haven’t gone to the gym or chopped any wood.

So, I make up excuses about being busy or I had too many emails to read so I could justify myself. I’m sure you’ve been there too. Sometimes it’s just miserable outside, or you just can’t be bothered exercising. But I pay for it later!  Not only did I have a sleepless night, but I was dragging all the next day, feeling very low in energy.

Of course, I don’t have to tell you this – you know you should be exercising. You know how much better it will make you look and feel. It’s just actually doing it that’s tough. So, the tip for the day – The trick is to train your unconscious mind to WANT to exercise regularly, so it becomes a habit you wouldn’t think of ‘putting off’.  Enjoy exercising regularly with our Exercise Motivation Booster download».
